Vitrolite Technical Data Sheet

Benefits include significantly reduced processing temperatures which can result in increased throughput in extrusion, injection, thermoforming and blow molding of filled or unfilled thermoplastics. Part quality and physical properties are maintained or improved. Enhanced flow and mold fill generally result in reduced reject rates and energy consumption per part produced. The reduced heat content of the melt permits faster cooling times as well as improved part quality within wider processing parameters at lower net cost.

Vitrolite™™ helps keep machines cleaner and easier to purge, allowing faster color or resin changes. The benefits of Vitrolite™ recur through successive generations of processing.

Vitrolite™ is manufactured from naturally occurring amorphous silicates and aluminosilicates and is non-toxic, inert, non-flammable, and does not affect UL approvals. Vitrolite™ is suitable for all products including electrical, food contact, and medical devices. It is currently used as a processing additive for molding auto parts, food containers, consumer electronics, toys, wire and cable, pipe and a host of other products. Vitrolite™ may be dry-blended into powder feedstock, compounded directly into the resin, compounded with a carrier resin into pelletized concentrate, or compounded with other additives or pigments in a master batch.

Chemical description

Vitrolite™ is a mixture of naturally occurring amorphous silicates and aluminosilicates of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
