Tech Note:
Vitrocote Technical Data Sheet

Vitrocote™ is a natural, non-reactive multi-function additive for paints and coatings. Vitrocote™ is a free-flowing powder readily dispersed and distributed using traditional equipment. Formulation cost reductions may be possible because Vitrocote™ enhances the dispersion and distribution of functional additives, fillers and pigments. Typically, Vitrocote™ does not alter the viscosity of the liquid paint or coating; however, application rates for high-solid formulation liquids and powder coatings are often greater. The additive is compatible with all paint and coating vehicles. Cured films exhibit fewer surface irregularities such as orange peel; improved dispersion and distribution of color-effect pigments; greater Distinction of Image (DOI); and improved resistance to impact, abrasion, marring, moisture and soiling. Short- and long-term weatherability of paints and coatings are improved.

Vitrocote™ is manufactured from naturally occurring amorphous silicates and aluminosilicates and is non-toxic, inert and non-flammable. Vitrocote™ is suitable for all product applications including electrical, food contact and medical devices. It is currently being used in applications such as clear interior and exterior wood finishes, automotive finishes, industrial paints and powder coatings.

CHEMICAL DESCRIPTION
